Afrikaans Protestant Church, Bloemfontein

The Afrikaans Protestant Church, Bloemfontein is a conservative Reformed church among the Boer community in Bloemfontein. As of 2008, it had approximately 900 members. The church holds services in Afrikaans twice every Sunday in its building, located in Rooiwal cres, Uitsig. The current pastor is Rev. Danie van Zyl. The Church is affiliated with the Afrikaans Protestant denomination.."

Doctrine

• The congregation believes the Bible to be the verbally inspired, inerrant Word of God.

• The church holds to orthodox Calvinist doctrine and believes the biblical faith to be accurately summarized in the church’s confessions, the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism and the Canons of Dordt.

• The church uses the 1953-Afrikaans Bible translation during services and regards its source texts (including the Textus Receptus, used for the translation of the New Testament) as the true and providentially preserved Word of God.

• The church rejects Arminianism, modernism, liberalism, humanism, multiculturalism and higher critical views of the Bible.
