Advance for Nurse Practitioners
Published on a monthly basis, Advance for Nurse Practitioners is a peer-reviewed professional trade journal geared for nurse practitioners. The journal gives news AbOUT the profession, offers patient education handouts and columns on legal issues, medical procedures and business advice. The publication also conducts The National Salary and Workplace Survey of Nurse Practitioners every two years, and the 2007 survey garnered more than 6,000 responses. It was cited in the federal government’s “Nurses’ Higher Education and Loan Repayment Act of 2009.” Advance for Nurse Practitioners also presents an annual award to the “Nurse Practitioner Entrepreneur of the Year” and hosts online continuing education unit courses on its Web site approved by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association Audited by BPA Worldwide, the trade journal had 64,180 qualified subscribers as of June 2008. Advance for Nurse Practitioners is published by Merion Publications, Inc. and was established in 1993.
Awards
In 2009, Advance for Nurse Practitioners won the bronze in the publication redesign category in the American Society for Healthcare Publication Editors (ASHPE) Annual Awards Competition. In 2005, Advance for Nurse Practitioners also won a gold Eddie Award from FOLIO. The publication also won bronze ASHPE awards in 2001 and 2002 for Best News Section and ASHPE silver awards for Best Special Report or Section in 2003 and 2004.
