Adrian Allen
Adrian Allen is a radio presenter, who is well-known for his previous work at LBC 97.3 a talk based radio station. He was born in Sunderland on 27 January 1962 in the North-East region of England and has broadcast on various stations in Great Britain.
Career
He originally made the transition to speech radio at TFM Radio in England's North-East, taking over from James Stannage who himself returned to a long-term slot at Manchester's Piccadilly radio stations.
In no particular order as yet, Allen has also presented across regional radio stations Century FM and Real Radio (from 2000 to 2002), local stations Rock FM and BRMB, Buzz FM in Birmingham (as a music DJ), Liberty Radio in London (as a music DJ and controller) and Wear FM in Sunderland, BBC local radio stations in Newcastle and Teeside BBC Radio Cleveland.
Both alongside and beforehand to speech broadcasting, Allen has presented traditional soul shows, the latest of which was his "Sunday night Big Night" In on BBC Radio Cleveland.
At the end of 2006 he was presenting weekend breakfast on Talk 107 in Edinburgh and a Sunday night slot on three local radio stations in his home area of Wearside; Sun FM, Durham FM and Alpha 103.2. Allen had wanted to present Talk 107's 10pm to 1am night time show which had been vacated by Micky Gavin and his producer Barry Sneddon, after they had been moved to a daytime slot. Allen was denied the opportunity when the station hired Scottie McClue, on one of his final broadcasts Allen alluded to being stabbed in the back by McClue during the negotiations for the night show and left shortly afterwards to join LBC 97.3.
From January 2 2007, Allen joined London's LBC 97.3 FM, in his trademark late-night slot. Allen has previously filled in for Marcus Churchill who was, until July 5th 2005, on leave for gallbladder trouble and LBC is the latest stop in a lengthy career of speech, and before that music, radio. Adrian officially left LBC as of 23 May 2007.
On 8 July he returned to the East Midlands to present for LBC's sister station Heart 106, where he had worked when it was called Century 106. He is now the host of the station's late show from Sundays to Thursdays, 10.00pm to 1.00am.
Adrian is a master of the spiritual healing art of Reiki, and hosts a "Reiki Box", where visitors to his website can appeal to have distance Reiki healing applied for no charge.
Encouragement to vandalize Wikipedia
On 24 April 2007 Allen encouraged listeners to his LBC show to edit Wikipedia entries for comedy value. Some listeners did call the show to explain how childish this was, and pointed out that Wikipedia needs to be a reliable source of information.
