2947 12 (Vancouver) Service Battalion Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps
2947 12 (Vancouver) Service Battalion Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps (2947 RCACC) is a Royal Canadian Army Cadet unit affiliated to 12 (Vancouver) Service Battalion.
Cadets are not soldiers, they are part of an organization dedicated to developing citizenship and leadership among young men and women aged 12 to 18 years of age with a military flavour, and are not required to join the Canadian Forces.
History
2947 RCACC was formed on 16 November 1976 under the command of a former 12 (Vancouver) Service Battalion officer, Major Art Allman, CD. Together, the Commanding Officer (CO) of 12 (Vancouver) Service Battalion,LCol Larry Watkins, OMM, CD, and the CO of the new 2947 RCACC, Major Art Allman, CD, created the corps.
The first Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) with rank of Cadet Chief Warrant Officer (C/CWO) was Quentin Wyne Under the command of Maj Allman, the corp was named one of the best Army Cadet Corps in Pacific Region in 1983 and grew to 120+ Cadets. During the time of Maj Allman, Cadet Warrant Officer (C/WO) WJ Allman received the Major General Howard Award for being the Top Cadet in Pacfic Region, only 1 cadet a year in each region is awarded the medal, which makes it very rare.

Corps Achievments
- 1981/1982, Cadet C. Dunnigham is award the Sword of Honour (Top Course Cadet Award, but now it's for the Top Staff Cadet) at Vernon Army Cadet Summer Training Centre. He is the only Recipient to receive the award more than once. In total, the Sword of Honour has been won by 2947 cadets, 3 times. 1981, 1982 and 1998.
- C/WO WJ Allman received the Major General Howard Award/Medal in 1983, only 1 medal is awarded in every region annually. The medal is awarded to the cadet with the highest mark on the National Star Certification Exam (NSCE) testing in every region, and is exceedingly rare.
- In the summer of 2004, C/CWO S. Ong was awarded the Army Navy Air Veterans (ANAVETS) Medal for topping the CLI- Drill and Ceremonial Course. Every Year, 31 medals are awarded every year.
- The drill team has won the Small Team Category in the Vancouver Zone Drill Competition for 2 years in a row (2006 and 2007). In 2007, the Drill Team was the Top Army Cadet Drill Team in British Columbia, Top Small Team in BC, and came 9th place overall.
- The corps has produced the top cadet in all Cadet Leader Instructor courses for both 2006 and 2007. C/MWO V. Wu and C/Sgt J. Ng received the Lieutenant-General J.E Vance Leadership Award in 2006 and 2007 respectively.
- Cadets from 2947 have been known to receive awards and to have been appointed parade positions almost every summer at Vernon Army Cadet Summer Training Centre.

The Regimental Sergeant Major is the highest ranking cadet and reports directly to the Commanding Officer
Every training night, a Cadet Sergeant (C/Sgt) and a Cadet Corporal (C/Cpl) or Cadet Master Corporal (C/MCpl) are assigned as the Duty NCOs. They perform all the tasks that must be completed during the training night such as:
- Roll call
- Security rounds
- Canteen sales at break
New cadets are first assigned to PAT Platoon for their basic level training prior to being assigned to either 1 or 2 Platoon
In addition, there is the Headquarters NCO and the Supply NCO who part of Headquarters (HQ).
