2005 Nashville Sounds season

The Nashville Sounds' 2005 season was the franchise's twenty-eighth year of play. The team finished the regular season with a record of 75 wins and 69 losses. They finished first in their division, clinching the American North Division title. In post-season play, the team had six wins and two losses on the way to winning the American Conference title and the Pacific Coast League Championship, the third league title in franchise history and their first in the PCL.

American Conference finals

The American North champion Sounds met the American South champion Oklahoma RedHawks in a best-of-five series to determine the American Conference champion. After splitting the first two games, Nashville lost game three, putting them on the verge of elimination. However, Nashville rallied back to win the final two games of the series, allowing them to advance to the league championship series.

Pacific Coast League Championship

Nashville met the Pacific Conference champion Tacoma Rainiers in the best-of-five league championship series. The Sounds proceeded to sweep Tacoma in three-straight games. The final game was tied 2–2 until the top of the thirteenth inning when Nelson Cruz hit a three-run home run that scored Corey D. Hart and Tony Zuniga, putting them up 5–2. The Rainiers were unable to answer in their half of the inning, giving the Sounds their first PCL Championship, the third league title in franchise history.
