Jaan Vahtra (23 May 1882 – 27 January 1947) was an Estonian modernist artist, printmaker, writer and educator. He was among the core members (and early leaders) of the Group of Estonian Artists (), founded in 1923 and often described as Estonia’s first avant-garde art group.
He worked in multiple media, including painting and woodcut, and is associated with Estonian Cubist and Constructivist experimentation of the 1920s.
Armin Tuulse (born Armin Neumann; 1 October 1907 – 9 December 1977) was an Estonian-Swedish art historian whose research focused on medieval architecture, particularly fortifications, castles, and churches in the Baltic and Nordic countries. He became the first ethnic Estonian to hold the professorship of art history at the University of Tartu (1942–1944). In Sweden, he later held the Anders Zorn Professorship in Nordic and Comparative Art History at Stockholm University.
Hardi Tiidus (8 November 1918 – 21 March 1999) was an Estonian television presenter, editor, journalist and translator. He worked at Eesti Televisioon (ETV) from 1956 to 1978 and hosted programmes including Vana hõbe, Viis viie vastu and Vabadus, võrdsus, vendlus. He was active in Estonia's quiz-game (mälumäng) culture and translated about fifty books into Estonian. Tiidus was widely known by the nickname Vana Hõbe ("Old Silver").
Marek Tamm (born 4 November 1973) is an Estonian historian and professor of cultural history at Tallinn University. His research spans medieval Baltic and Livonian history as well as historical theory, historiography, cultural memory studies and digital history.
He has been a member of the Estonian Academy of Sciences since 2021 and has served as its vice-president since 2024. In 2023, he was elected a member of Academia Europaea.
