Agilebuddy is a web-based (SaaS) project management tool that focuses on managing software development projects using the Scrum methodology. It was conceptualized and co-created by Jack Milunksy, COO of Brightspark Inc. and Certified ScrumMaster who received his certification from one of the founders of Scrum, Ken Schwaber. Agilebuddy was officially released to the public on January 27, 2009.
Features
Agilebuddy offers backlog/user story management, release and iteration planning, team management, milestone management, collaboration tools, task management, bug tracking, and file sharing. It is currently the only application that utilizes historical user stories to aid users in estimating story size. Agilebuddy is also integrated with JIRA bug tracking, , GitHub, and version control.
Development
Agilebuddy was built on the Ruby on Rails framework using the Ruby programming language. Rails developers and developers using Git can manage a software development lifecycle from one interface. Agilebuddy is designed to be used with any Agile process including Scrum, eXtreme Programming (XP), and Feature Driven Development (FDD).
Praise and criticism
Although Agilebuddy is an easy to use learning tool, it suffers from the same problems as many Agile tools do. Agilebuddy covers mostly basic features and doesn’t bring much innovation.
