Peter Graham Church (born 07 March 1963) is a Cape Town-based writer.
Life and career
After a successful career in Information Technology, Church wrote his first novel, Dark Video in 2008. Dark Video was published by Random-Struik in South Africa and New Holland Publishers in Australia. Reviewed as ‘one of the best debuts in a long time’ by Lindsay Slogrove of The Natal Mercury, Dark Video was a Sunday Times ‘Book of the Week’.
In 2011 Church followed up with the ‘drink spiking’ book Bitter Pill. Cosmopolitan magazine’s ‘Hot Read of the Month’, Bitter Pill was nominated for the 2012 Sunday Times fiction prize. Bitter Pill was not without controversy. A leading woman’s publication called it a ‘disturbing read’.
In 2012, a London production company, Antcolony Limited, bought the film rights to Dark Video. Although they renewed the film rights, the movie has not been made.
In 2015 Two Dogs announced Blue Cow Sky, a novella of sexual proportions.
Peter Church is a member of SA Pen and a writers' circle called the Kimberley Club. His acclaimed sporting articles were featured on M&G’s Sports Leader site.
A short story, The One, about compulsive love, appeared in a compilation of South African crime fiction called Bad Company. Another shortie, My Side, was selected for the annual Short Sharp Story collection Bloody Satisfied edited by Jo Hichens.
In January 2019 it was announced that Church had signed a three book deal with Catalyst Press from California.
Peter lives in Cape Town with his wife Paula and three children Christopher, Megan and Ross.

The Jamia Mosque and Islamic Society of Darlington is a local community mosque located in the North Lodge Terrace area of the town of Darlington in County Durham, England. The organisation was constituted as a charity under UK law in 1982. The mosque offers worship facilities, as well as Islamic Education, and has its own telecommunications mast for calls to prayer.
History
In 2011, the mosque was the target of an anti-Islamic protest by the far-right English Defence League group. Three protesters were arrested by Durham Police for public disorder offences. The mosque also suffered fire damage after a firework was put through the letterbox in October 2012.
