Callousness is the state of feeling or showing no sympathy for others. For example a person who is homeless and begging for money might be ignored by someone. That someone who ignored the vagrant would be considered to be in a state of callousness. The cause of this is most likely that there are people out there who scam others into to giving them money. The person who does the scam successfully does not need the money because they most likely have funds of their own. Thus people are callous towards homeless people because they could be someone who is scamming others out of their hard earned money.
Vox Camerata is a non-auditioned community vocal ensemble in Singapore established since June 2004. It has grown from a community that teaches simple music theory and sight singing to an ensemble which deals with choral works like any other well established choir in Singapore.
History
Vox Camerata was formed in 2004 as an amateur community ensemble. The ensemble was led by Music Director and Conductor Mohamed Shahril Bin Mohamed Salleh since 2004 to late 2007. Vox Camerata is currently conducted by Shaun Teo.
The ensemble’s emphasis is to make choral music accessible to anyone who is keen on making choral music, regardless of their musical knowledge and background. Despite the new ground Vox Camerata has broken into, and the higher standards it sets for its performers, it remains as a non-auditioned community vocal ensemble, taking in everyone and anyone with a passion for singing. It remains true to its original calling - to allow the regular person, regardless of their prior musical knowledge and experiences, to experience the joys of choral singing, and to inculcate an appreciation for choral music amongst the audience here in Singapore.
Vox Camerata, has, since its inception, organized and participated in numerous performances. Its maiden recital was held in November 2004 at the function room of the Kg. Ubi Community Center. Its first anniversary recital, BareNaked Addiction to Music, was held at the Fort Canning Country Club, and Songs By Twilight, would be the second in the Musica IntimÆ series of annual concerts.
Apart from regular recitals, Vox Camerata also performed in various collaborations with other organizations, as well as guest performed in various events. Vox Camerata has, up to date, collaborated with St. Margaret's Secondary School in the musical Anne of Green Gables which was performed at the University Cultural Centre. Vox Camerata also had had the opportunity to work with the Singapore Police Force Band and Choir in the SPF Band's 80th anniversary concert held at the Esplanade Concert Hall. It has also been invited to guest perform at the gala dinner organized by Australian Alumni Association in 2005, and of late, the Rock Opera - a malay musical - organized by IMG Productions which was part of the PopAgenda during the Singapore Arts Festival at the Esplanade Theatre.
