Goes logo
The GOES project is an initiative co-funded by the European Commission under a Civil Protection Financial Instrument for projects on Prevention and Preparedness.
It is allocated a budget of 525.000 € from January 2011 to December 2012.
This project aims to increase preparedness, awareness and maximum cooperation between public authorities of different member states through quick and effective information in order to increase preparedness on emergency situation and give an adequate response to emergency situations.
The authorities involved in the project proposal agree that an inadequate response to emergency situations is often the result of disorganization, delays or deficiencies in communication between local actors involved in various capacities in prevention and emergency management.
From this reflection comes the project GOES which aims to create a network that collects daily all relevant information on road conditions related to any criticisms and suggestions on alternative routes.
The network will convey this information to the regional civil protection structures and to the main network in order to promptly inform citizens.
The system for collecting and transmitting data should be based on standardized and automated procedures to exchange across the partner territories. Once this connection has been created it may also be used to convey other information coming from the whole territory, not only from the roads.
Objectives
The objectives of the project are:
• Optimizing systems for collecting and transmitting information concerning the civil protection particularly on natural disasters that have a negative impact on the feasibility of the roads.
• To increase preparedness on emergency situation and give an adequate response to emergency situations.
• To improve cooperation between public authorities of different member states through quick and effective information and involving operators, stakeholders and population from the territories of the partnership.
• To Create a network that collects daily all relevant information on road conditions.
• Creating a database of the natural disasters which impact on the feasibility of the road.
Planned Outcomes
• A preliminary study of the different ways of organizing services, traffic and information management in order to increase the knowledge about the different ways of organizing services in the territories covered by the road test and understand the management mode of information concerning the roads’ navigability in normal and emergency situations.
• A design of a standardized system among the partners for the receipt, sorting and transmission of information on disasters relevant for the roads navigability.
• Training of road workers and civil protection.
• Testing on systems designed and detection of any criticality.
• Arrangements through start up and ongoing use of the system.

Melanie Parry was born in Sydney, Australia on 23 November and is a classically trained coloratura soprano show singer and actress.
She started in show business at the age of eleven by appearing on the Nine Networks afternoon show called "Skeeters Cartoon Corner" as part of The Daffodil Junior Australians who were a well known touring children's song and dance troupe, whilst also studying drama at the renowned Edith De Paul Acting Studios in Sydney.
Between 1980 - 1983 she toured the professional circuit in Australia and then overseas as a children's entertainer. During this time she studied the art of ventriloquism, then went on to perform professionally as a children's ventriloquist with her puppet character "Willy the Crocodile" touring statewide and appearing on Channel Nine and national TV shows, such as Johnny Youngs, 'Young Talent Time' and as one of the shows many professional guest artistes.
Descending from a prominent showbusiness family, she was inspired to make her mark in the world of entertainment when at only six years of age she met her cousin Robie Porter (known as "Rob E.G"). Porter was a young steel guitar prodigy and performer with Festival Records. Porter was to become a record producer and manager and in the 1970s he became instrumental for producing a number of LP's for Rick Springfield, Daddy Cool, & Marcia Hines, under his Wizard Record label. Porter was also responsible for the band Air Supply getting their first break in America with Arista Records releasing their hit song 'Lost in Love'.
Her first professional engagements on the Australian cabaret scene were then secured for her by her first manager Jan Murphy, the mother of Chris Murphy, who was later to become the manager and the man instrumental in the success of the world famous rock group Inxs.
After a time performing on the Australian circuit, Parry then decided to leave Australia in 1983 for career opportunities in England and Europe. Much of her career was then spent performing in the theatres and cabaret rooms of England, Scotland, France, Spain and Malta up till 1994. There she also studied singing in Wales with the celebrated Welsh operatic Tenor, Allun Davies. In late 1994 she then decided to return to Australia to re-establish her career back home.
Just before the tragic death of her then English comedian husband, in 1999, Parry created and produced her now acclaimed theatre show, 'Judy', The Judy Garland Story In Song which also includes film clips and narratives telling the story of Judy Garlands life and career including that of her daughter Liza Minnelli. Parry released her CD tribute, "Melanie Parry sings Judy Garland" in the same year.
Parry then went on to perform her Judy Garland show 'twice' at the prestigious Monte Carlo Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, United States in the years 2001 & 2002.
In 2003, Parry produced and scripted another musical show tribute 'The Magic of Dame Vera Lynn' dedicated to the legendary singer who was famous for her stirring songs during World War II. This musical tribute tells the story of this Dame of the British Empire and was written especially for Commemorative Remembrance days and Anzac day celebrations marking the end of World War II in Europe and the Pacific.
Parry released her CD tribute, "Melanie Parry sings the Magic of Dame Vera Lynn in the same year, dedicating the CD release to her much-loved mother, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2002.
This show was the only one of its kind in Australia to be endorsed by Dame Vera Lynn.
In 2007, Parry scripted and produced her new show entitled to "Hal & Bach", a musical tribute to one of the finest song writing teams in pop music history, Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Releasing her Cd "Melanie Parry sings to Hal & Bach" in the same year.
Parry remarried in 2008, and continues to perform all her musical shows in theatres and major concert rooms nationally and internationally with her orchestras to the present day.
In 2010 Parry launched her newest musical tribute show to three of the world's most famous entertainers - Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin - entitled Judy, Frank & Dean, in the Once in a Lifetime Tour, starring with leading men, Frank Bennett, 4 time aria nominated artiste, as Frank Sinatra and Grant Galea, known for his acclaimed Dean Martin portrayal.
This show recreates Judy's famous TV show when these three great artistes all appeared together in the studio for one of TV's greatest musical moments.

Business-to-consumer (B2C, sometimes also called Business-to-Customer) describes activities of businesses serving end consumers with products and/or services.
An example of a B2C transaction would be a person buying a pair of shoes from a retailer. The transactions that led to the shoes being available for purchase, that is the purchase of the leather, laces, rubber, etc. However, the sale of the shoe from the shoemaker to the retailer would be considered a (B2B) transaction.
Types of Business to Consumer
While the term e-commerce refers to all online transactions, B2C stands for "business-to-consumer" and applies to any business or organization that sells its products or services to consumers over the Internet for its own use. When most people think of B2C e-commerce, they think of Amazon, the online bookseller that launched its site in 1995 and quickly took on the nation's major retailers. In addition to online retailers, B2C has grown to include services such as online banking, travel services, online auctions, health information and real estate sites. Peer-to-peer sites such as Craigslist also fall under the B2C category.
B2C e-commerce went through some tough times, particularly after the technology-heavy Nasdaq crumbled in 2000. In the ensuing dotcom carnage, hundreds of e-commerce sites shut their virtual doors and some experts predicted years of struggle for online retail ventures. Since then, however, shoppers have continued to flock to the web in increasing numbers. In fact, North American consumers adopted e-commerce so much that despite growing fears about identity theft, they spent $172 billion shopping online in 2005, up from $38.8 billion in 2000.
By 2010, consumers are expected to spend $329 billion each year online, according to Forrester Research. What’s more, the percentage of U.S. households shopping online is expected to grow from 39 percent this year to 48 percent in 2010.
In October 2010, an extension of B2C, B21 was coined (sometimes referred to as B2I). While B2C includes all manners of a business marketing or selling to consumers, B21 is specifically targeted towards an individual. B21 requires specific Personalization for that individual. B21 requires Insight in order to create the personalized experience.
Advantages
According to marketingterms "B2C businesses played a large role in the rapid development of the commercial Internet in the late 20th century. Large sums of venture capital flowed to consumers in the form of free online services and discounted shopping, spurring adoption of the new medium." Business to Consumer e-consumer quickly developed as an alternative way for companies to sell more products to a larger market.B2C e-commerce provided not only multiple advantages to a company but also to the consumers. The main advantages for both the business and consumer are that by opening their market up to B2C e-commerce trade they are reducing transactions costs. Businesses usually ship their products to a number of stores to make them visible to the consumer. However, by using B2C commerce they can instead showcase all of their products on the internet which reduces the cost of transaction. B2C also allows their customers to better access information about different File:product and sellers which broadens the selection available to their customers. Business to consumer ecommerce is valuable to the economy because it creates a more unique way for businesses and consumers to interact.
Unique attributes
* Negotiation: Selling to another business involves haggling over prices, delivery and product specifications. Not so with most consumer sales. That makes it easier for retailers to put a catalog online, and it's why the first B2C applications were for buying finished goods or commodities that are simple to describe and price.
* Integration: Retailers don't have to integrate with their customers' systems. Companies selling to other businesses, however, need to make sure they can communicate without human intervention.
