Laura Jane Barney (born 1927) is an American socialite, collector and philanthropist. She sits on the board of the SmithBarney division of Citigroup and the Frick Museum. She is a patron of the arts and supporter of various charitable causes both in the United States and abroad. Her family is a benefactor of the New York Ballet, the Newport Mansion Conservation Fund, The Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir Initiative and the New York Public Library Restoration Fund. A wing of the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art bears her name as well as do three charitable foundations (her late husband's, her father's and her own).
Born in 1927 in New York, Laura Jane "Bootsy" Belmont, divided time with her family between their sprawling 960 Fifth Avenue apartment and their landmark estates in the exclusive Belle Haven community of Greenwich, Connecticut and Newport, Rhode Island. An only child, both her parents were from prestigious American families. The Belmonts especially are remembered for their connection in business with the Vanderbilts in banking and railroads.
During the winter debutante season she was named a debutante of the year at the age of eighteen. She went on to attend Miss Porter's Boarding school in Farmington, Connecticut and Barnard College of Columbia University in New York.
Her marriage to William Barney of the Smith-Barney banking fortune produced four children. Currently she divides her time between her family estates in Greenwich, Connecticut and Newport, Rhode Island and her late husband's family beachfront mansion and yacht in Palm Beach, Florida.
<<<Researching the house she supposedly lived in at Newport - the person who supposedly sold it to her, had never heard of her. There is no Laura Barney Charitable Foundation, there is no Laura Barney wing at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art nor is her name attached to the Frick, and the article lacks any name that would clearly link her to the "prestigious American families" she is supposedly from. Of the three books sited as references for this article, the first two have no mention of anyone by the name of 'Barney' or 'Bootsy'; and, the book by "Marcus Rossalstein" does not seem to exist except for its mention in this article. Ruthless Order is a Russian progressive - death-power metal band formed in 2006.
Is among the most prominent Russian progressive metal bands due to its unique style, combining technically sophisticated slow tempo guitar riffs varying from death metal to blues with injection of highly diversified vocals ranging from growl to falsetto as in power metal.
Initially the musicians used to describe their style as Brutal Heavy Metal later transforming this into Progressive Death Power Metal considering it more compatible with the music they play.
Biography
2006-2008: debut album
Though the album Genes of Isolation was actually recorded in winter 2006-2007 it took one year to find a label to take the risk of releasing the album with highly variative music, claiming this could have low commercial success.
Finally the album was released in 2008 by the label Metalhearts and met high critical acclaim and appraisal from audience and other musicians.
By this time the band was already known among the public and musicians to do outstanding stage performance, first of all of lead guitarist Nazaroid and vocalist Slaanesh.
Genes of Isolation helped Ruthless Order to get strong position among both death and power metal bands in Russia and the band boosted the effect by active touring, winning several contests.
2008-present time
After the period of line-up adaptation and changes, caused by the tendency to perform more technically advanced music, the band returned to studio in 2009, having recorded short Demo with two tracks beforehand.
The second album, which is a concept one, bears working title Awakened Witnesses of Nascence and was partly inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey and is dedicated to philosophical aspects of "the second birth" and Afterlife.
In April 2010 the band signed the contract with the label "Grailight Production" for the releasing of "Awakened Witnesses of Nascence" album. The album was released on Grailight on May 14, 2010
On February, 15th, 2011 the first official video of the band for the track "Blind king of the World" was introduced to the public
