Raven Magwood (born January 3, 1993), is a teenage athlete from the United States of America. At fourteen years old, Magwood is a junior in high school and college student at Greenville Technical College. The recent release of her second novel, Double-Sided, deals with peer, parental, and race relations.
Biography
Raven Magwood was born in Greenville, South Carolina to Frank and Chandra Magwood. Raven published her first book, On to Victory! The Winning Edge at age eleven. The autobiography tells of her journey to the 2004 USAIGC National Gymnastics Championships and her philosophy of using the "3D's" (dedication, determination, and discipline). Since her beginning in 1998 Magwood has won over 200 medals in the sport of gymnastics. At twelve years old, Magwood was the keynote speaker for Stedman Graham at one of his promotional functions. In just over a year, Magwood began working on her second novel, Double-Sided. In 2006, she was a keynote speaker for Jesse Jackson at a Rainbow Push Coalition banquet in Atlanta, GA.
Quotations
“When the Word of God says in Acts 2:17 that God will ‘… pour out His Spirit upon all flesh’ and that ‘…your sons and daughters will prophesy…, ’ it’s no surprise that Raven Magwood is soaring and accomplishing great things! As an achieved scholar, published author, gymnast and motivational speaker, Raven is mature beyond her years. Her fictional depiction of two teenage girls, who greatly impact their segregated small town, will inspire many. Whether you prefer fiction or non-fiction, Raven is truly one to be reckoned with!”
