Zulfikar Ali (police officer)
Zulfikar Ali is a Bangladeshi police officer. He is currently serving as the Additional Superintendent of Police (Logistics and Development) at the Tourist Police Headquarters in Dhaka. He is an officer of the 33rd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) police batch.
Career
Zulfikar Ali joined the Bangladesh Police in 2013 as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) through the 33rd BCS examination. Following his core professional training at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi, he was posted to Jessore in 2016. Later, he served as the Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (Security) at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
In mid-2018, he took charge as the Assistant Commissioner (AC) of the Uttara Traffic Zone. In 2019, he was transferred to the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as the Assistant Commissioner for the Rampura and Khilgaon crime zones.
Upon his promotion to Additional Superintendent of Police, he was appointed as the Company Commander of the RAB-1 Purbachal Camp in mid-2022. In early 2024, he was transferred as the Operations Officer of RAB-14. In June 2024, he joined the Logistics and Development wing of the Bangladesh Tourist Police Headquarters as the Additional Superintendent of Police.
Notable works and contributions
During the COVID-19 pandemic strict lockdowns, Zulfikar Ali drew public appreciation for his humanitarian initiatives in the Khilgaon and Rampura areas. He personally arranged and delivered food relief to marginalized families after receiving distress text messages (SMS) on his mobile phone.
While serving in the Uttara Traffic Zone, he took proactive structural measures to ensure road safety. He initiated safety awareness campaigns and distributed helmets specifically targeted toward child commuters.
Additionally, he played a vital role in dismantling a major transnational drug smuggling ring that was actively trafficking Yaba shipments from Bangladesh to New York, United States, concealed inside postal apparel parcels.
Awards and recognitions
In recognition of his professional dedication, Zulfikar Ali has received multiple accolades throughout his career. During his tenure in the Uttara Traffic Zone, he was awarded the "Best Assistant Commissioner of Police" by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) a total of 8 times. Furthermore, he won the best AC award twice more while serving in the Khilgaon-Rampura zone.
