Zheng Ke
Zheng Ke (; born September 1966) is a Chinese politician who is currently a vice chairman and member of the leading Party group of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He previously served as Chinese Communist Party Committee Secretary of Foshan.
Biography
Zheng Ke was born in Maoming, Guangdong, in September 1966. He graduated from the Department of Philosophy at Sun Yat-sen University in 1989 with a bachelor's degree in philosophy. He joined the Chinese Communist Party in March 1987 and began his professional career in June 1989.
After graduation, Zheng worked in the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party's directly affiliated organs and subsequently held various positions in the provincial CCP organization. From 1991 to 1994, he worked in the Youth League organization of the Guangdong provincial authorities, eventually becoming its deputy secretary. He then worked in the Organization Department of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, where he served in several positions, including director of the Local Cadres Division and deputy director of the Cadres Division.
From 2004 to 2009, Zheng served as director of the Organization Division of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee Organization Department and subsequently as a deputy department-level organization officer. He became deputy head of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee Organization Department in July 2012, a position he held until February 2015.
In February 2015, Zheng was appointed a member of the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. From May 2015, he concurrently served as head of the municipal Organization Department and president of the Shenzhen Party School, as well as president of the Shenzhen Administration Institute and Shenzhen Institute of Socialist Studies. In December 2018, he became deputy secretary of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee while retaining his responsibilities in the Organization Department. From October 2019 to June 2021, he served as deputy secretary of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee.
In June 2021, Zheng became secretary of the Foshan Municipal Party Committee and chairman of the Foshan Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee. He served as chairman of the municipal People's Congress until November 2021 and continued as Party secretary of Foshan until October 2024. In July 2021, he also became first secretary of the Party Committee of the Foshan Military Sub-District.
In January 2023, Zheng was appointed vice chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference while continuing to serve as secretary of the Foshan Municipal Party Committee. In October 2024, he was relieved of his positions as secretary, standing committee member and member of the Foshan Municipal Party Committee, while retaining his position as vice chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Zheng was a representative to the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party and a member of the 13th Guangdong Provincial Party Committee. He also served as a deputy to the 13th and 14th Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, resigning from the latter position in January 2025. He is a member of the 13th Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
