Jalil (born March 16, 2007), professionally known as Zatru (stylized in lowercase), is an American recording rapper and producer from Delaware.

Early life

Jalil was born in Delaware on March 16, 2007. He began gaining attention in online music circles during his early teens, initially connecting with various internet-based collectives that specialized in "hyper-trap" and experimental aesthetics.

2020–2022: JEWELXXET and early singles

Zatru first emerged as a member of the underground collective JEWELXXET in 2020. During this period, he developed a signature sound characterized by aggressive, distorted production and fast-paced vocal delivery. In July 2021, he released the single "I Know," which helped establish his presence as a solo artist.

2023–present: Genre-blending and rising popularity

In 2023, Zatru expanded his sound to incorporate elements of breakcore and electroclash. His single "Whoring1," released via Encore Recordings, showcased a shift toward more complex, rhythmically dense production. By late 2025 and early 2026, Zatru saw a surge in popularity on platforms like SoundCloud and TikTok, particularly with the tracks "Not a Love Crime" and "Laughing Now."

He has also worked multiple underground artists such as Xaviersobased, Jaydes, Bleood, Slaywitme and Nine Vicious.
