Zach Simons
Zachary Simons (born May 23, 1985) is a minor league baseball pitcher in the Texas Rangers organization. Simons was initially drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 2003 in the 38th round, but opted to attend Everett Community College instead. In 2005 he was drafted again, this time in the second round by the Colorado Rockies, who assigned him to the single-A Tri-City Dust Devils. Working as a starter, Simons posted a 6-5 record with an ERA of 6.51. He spent the 2006 and 2007 seasons with the single-A Asheville Tourists; in the 2007 season he was 8-2 with an ERA of 4.46. In 2008 the Rockies promoted him to the Modesto Nuts, where he made seven relief appearances before being traded to the Detroit Tigers for relief pitcher Jason Grilli. The Tigers assigned Simons to the single-A Lakeland Flying Tigers.
Simons signed a minor league contract with the Florida Marlins on July 4, 2011.
