Zabd shuda nazmein
Zabt Shuda Nazmein by Majlis-e-Jashne Ali Jawad Zaidi
Zabt shuda nazmein is the title of a collection of proscribed (declared unlawful to recite or distribute by the colonial Government of India, the British Raj) poems in Urdu, banned because of their nationalistic fervour for a sovereign India.
This was published by a committee called "Jashn-e-Zaidi", translated to English as "A Celebration for Zaidi", formed to facilitate (padmashri)Shri Ali jawad Zaidi, 1 a noted writer, statesman and freedom fighter, in 1975. The book was released when presented to the then Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, by Mr. Zaidi himself.
The committee consisted of prominent leaders of the time, and included Shri Durga Prasad Dar, Minister Family Planning and later Ambassador of India in Moscow, Shri Rafiq Zakaria, Minister of Health, Shri Chandrajit Yadav, AICC General Secretary, Shri Shashi Bhushan, Member of Parliament, Shri R. K. Sinha, Member of Parliament, Shri Sajjad Zaheer, noted writer, Kwaja Ahmad Abbas, Shri Abid Ali Khan, Shri Ali Sardar Jaffri, Shri Jaan Nissar Akhtar and Shri R. K. Misra, Member of Parliament.
Later, these poems were published in Hindi by Sahitya Akademi under the same title "Zabt Shuda Nazmein" in 1985.
