Young's Modulus (game)

This article is about a computer game. For the physical property, see Young's modulus.

Description

Young's Modulus is a game produced by Laminar Research which simulates walking, fighting robots. The robots have a variety of weapons, including everything from flame throwers to cruise missiles. There are futuristic weapons as well, including ion mortars and pulse lasers.

The user can also embark on a Strategic Game, where you attempt to take control of planets, and eventually control the galaxy.

The demo version has full access to the entire game, although the user can not use any of the larger robots, so he/she will be at a large disadvantage.

The story line to Young's Modulus is actually not even included in the program itself, but in a Simpletext file included in the download, which shows that it has only been a mere afterthought. Young's Modulus was largely developed using the Apple Macintosh computer with Mac OS X, but is cross-compiled to the Windows operating system as well. It should also run on Mac OS 9, although it is not recommended. The 3D graphics are fully based on the cross-platform OpenGL libraries.

Current status

The latest version of Young's Modulus is 6.45. As of November 2007, the game is now available for free — entering any 6-digit code unlocks it.
