Y Glaslanciau
Y Glaslanciau is a name used by a Welsh Folk group based predominantly in the Porthmadog area. Most of the members are past members of the Porthmadog Male Voice Choir. Members of Y Glaslanciau are Elwyn Jones, Trevor Morris, Ieuan Roberts, Elwyn Thomas, Emlyn Tudor, Eric Thomas, Elfed Jones, Lewis Edwards, Evan Foulkes, Richard Jones and Gareth Jones. Y Glaslanciau loosely translated into English means the young ones, whilst the group members also refer to the Glaslyn Estuary.
The group commenced their performances during October 2009 and since this have taken part in numerous concerts featuring themselves and also involving other artists. Songs and pieces are sung in Tenor/Bass with Gareth Jones playing the keyboard/piano and Richard Jones playing the 12 string guitar. Y Glaslanciau evenings consists of solos, duets, group pieces, amusing stories by Elwyn Thomas and jokes told by Evan Foulks and Elwyn Thomas.
