XTRF

XTRF is a process management tool for translation and web localisation businesses as well as translation and web localisation departments within other enterprises.

XTRF encompasses, among others, translation project management, customer and subcontractor base management (including translators, proofreaders, and DTP specialists), invoice management and billing, sales support, pricing, project file management, and quality management. Concerning the last item, XTRF officially supports all the activities required by ISO certification concerning a translation agency.

Background information

The system was launched in 2004, as commissioned by LIDO-LANG Technical Translations based in Krakow (Poland). The system was developed by a team of IT specialists from the European IT and Certification Institute EUTECert. On 1 September 2010, XTRF separated itself from its parent company (LIDO-LANG Technical Translations), as an independent enterprise under the business name of XTRF Management System. The originator granted XTRF Management System sp. z o.o. (Ltd) the right to distribute, promote, sell, and provide after-sales service and tech support to the customer.

Technology

XTRF uses a web-based technology that enables working on virtually any computer with Internet access. Users connect to the system via an http/https protocol and work with any Internet browser. XTRF is installed on a server – either one's own or an external one.

The system uses Java technology.

The system uses the PostgreSQL open source base, which safeguards the security of stored data (data archiving, back-up, and lost content point-in-time recovery). The stored data is protected by means of an individual logging method, which is additionally reinforced with an SSL certificate (https-protocol logging).

XTRF has over 20 language engines enabling operation in a selected language (e.g. English, French, Spanish, German, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, and Ukrainian) and is also equipped with the UTF-8 international character encoding system.

The following software package is delivered:
