World Amateur Subbuteo Players Association
The World Amateur Subbuteo Players Association, abbreviated as WASPA, is the players' association for subbuteo. Founded 2011 by Vincent Coppenolle from Belgium, the association has player members from more than 44 different nations.
The advantage for all players is the possibility to develop, emerge, start-up and prepare for FISTF events. FISTF receives many new contacts throughout the STF world community and vice versa. The WASPA is a kind of second tier for STF emerging players and nations. The world's top players should rather participate in the FISTF events and let emerging players develop gradually.
Playing rules (or codes)
The WASPA events use the same rules as sports table football (STF) tournaments of FISTF. The "OLD Subbuteo" scene is getting bigger with traditional old Subbuteo playing rules. Organizers can decide to organize tournaments where "Subbuteo" or alternative material only is allowed, or be used. The flexibility makes it interesting and motivates the players to participate. Historically the different "playing codes" appeared due to non-unity in the 1970-80s, as well as different interpretation of the sport (game) in different European cultures. FISTF stopped the different approaches of playing rules and unified the sport playing rules to form a strong World Federation Sport in 1992/1993.
The WASPA World Cup project
WASPA have initiated a 'World Cup' project which will possibly be hosted by the Hungarian Table Football Association, in Budapest, Hungary on 30 June and 1 July 2018. There will be two events on Saterday and on Sunday. palyers should have as many matches as possible. A great development project for eastern Europe (Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia, Russia and Hungaria).
The tiny events are valued and loved by all players world wide, give them the opportunity to be mentioned in a world ranking list which is motivational for boys and girls, young and old from allover the global.
