WomensLaw.org

WomensLaw.org uses the Internet as a tool to reach victims of domestic violence and [...] assault. The website houses legal information that is written so that victims can read it without the help of a lawyer. The legal information includes restraining orders (injunctions), child custody, divorce, immigration (Violence Against Women Act), and other relevant laws. Much of it is written in both English and Spanish. The organization also has written legal information for other websites, including information AbOUT the Jewish "get" law for Jewish Women International.

The organization also hosts an email legal hotline. It also has a joint project with the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence to provide legal support and information to victims throughout that state.

The organization was founded in February 2000 and the first version of the website was launched in 2001. The website was re-vamped and upgraded to its present version in March 2008. WomensLaw.org changed its formal name from Women's Law Initiative in 2005. In 2009, WomensLaw.org received a Webby Award for best website in the Law category.
