Women's Media Watch Azerbaijan
Launched in 2006, Women’s Media Watch Azerbaijan unites dozens of female journalists working in broadcast, print and on-line journalism throughout Azerbaijan. It is the first and only non-govermental organization that trains women journalists and women NGOs to keep media outlets and decision makers accountible to the public interest. The goal of the organization is to support development of free and ethical media; encourage debate of issues of public concern; increase women's presence in the public debate and strengthen women's role in the news media. WMW is a nonprofit, nonpartisan watchdog organization, promoting open, honest and accountable government. The Network is known for its popular roundtable discussions with prominent state and public figures. The organization’s web site is www.wmw-az.org
The Network is founded and led by a well-known TV journalist and former producer for BBC World Service Sevinc Osmanqizi. The organization has an Executive Board, consisting of women journalists, who have had prominent careers in the Azerbaijani media.
