Wizpac txtr
The Wizpac txtr is an electronic document reader (e-reader), presented at the 2009 CeBIT IT fair. It is built by the German company Wizpac Ltd. from Berlin.
The device, which was presented as a prototype at CeBIT, is intended as a competitor product to Sony's Reader and Amazon's Kindle. In CONTRAST to those, it utilizes a simple interface, consisting only of a capacitive touch slider crosspad and two click buttons to navigate within and between ebooks and other documents.
The 6 inch screen uses e-ink, albeit with faster refresh time then its competitors. Wizpac Txtr runs a modified version of Linux. It will be fully documented with a developer API and SDK and open for third-party applications. It will at least support the PDF, plain text, HTML, Office and ePub formats.
The main external connection is a micro USB port. Bluetooth, UMTS/GPRS and WLAN are planned to connect to the txtr.com portal where texts can be shared and ebooks will be available for purchase, as is a wireless module to connect txtr devices among each other. Files are stored on a MicroSD card.
