Windsor and District Soccer League

Windsor and District Soccer League (WADSL) is a local soccer league in Windsor, Ontario. The league was developed in 1981 and has been promoting soccer in Windsor and Essex County ever since.

To date, WADSL has over 111 competitive youth and senior teams, participating in 15 different leagues.

WADSL is a member of the Ontario Soccer Association (The OSA). Its main goal is to provide a competitive edge of soccer for all youth, and adult players.

Over the time, the league was able to produce payers who ended up playing for Windsor FC Nationals, Ontario Provincial team, Windsor Border Stars, and Canada men's national soccer team. Some of the players were fortunate enough to receive scholarships all over North America. Stephen Ademolu, a former player of the Windsor and District Soccer League is now playing professional soccer in Norway.

As soccer is the most growing sport in Ontario, WADSL continues to grown more and more.

History

Windsor and District Soccer League (WADSL) was formed in 1981. The league was mainly a youth soccer league until it merged with the Ontario Michigan Soccer League (Senior League) in 2004. The two leagues merged and kept the name of WADSL. The league operated for 3 years as a boys/men’s league only. In 2007, the league merged with the Western Ontario Women’s Soccer League (WOWSL) and became both a male and female district league. Before WADSL-WOWSL merger, WADSL had 77 teams in 2006. After the merger, the league grew to 116 teams in 2007. In 2008, the league operated with 111 teams.

Members

WADSL is a non-profit organization that is run by clubs. Each club reserves a certain number of votes (depending on how many teams they register in that particular year). The clubs elect a board of directors who organize the league on clubs' behalf. Current members of the league are;
