Windows Vista Sync Center Control Panel

New article name is Microsoft Windows Sync Center

Microsoft has included "Sync Cneter" as a control panel in Windows Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate).

It is a syncing technology that allows you to keep your PC to access files from other PCs, Servers and other mobile devices such as Windows Mobile phones.

IT Works by allowing the user to right click any file, folder or drive icon on a connected device and choose "Sync." Windows Vista will then launch the control panel Sync Center and walk you through the sync process.

When your PC is disconnected from the device it will still show up in Window's Explorer list of connected devices (Hard Drives, CD/DV drives, Network Servers, Mobile Phones, etc.). You can then access any of those files (a local copy is kept on your hard drive hidden from view). When you add, delete or modify a file on an offline device Sync Center keeps track.

When you reconnect your PC to the device you are in sync with Sync Center (either manually or at a scheduled interval depending on how you setup the sync relationship) will sync the changes in both places. Any conflicts will be reported and you will be asked which version of the file you want to keep.
