William (Wils) Patterson

William "Wils" Patterson was an Irish League footballer who played for the Institute Football Club (IFC) from 1999 - 2005. In 2005, he was sold to Dungannon F.C. for an undisclosed fee, where he played for the next year. He then moved to Omagh Town F.C. for a further season to help out the ex manager at IFC, Paul Kee, in the club's battled to avoid relegation from the Irish Premier League. The club was also suffering from financial difficulties and debts.

Patterson made over 170 appearances for Institute in 5 years before he was sold by then manager Paul Hegarty. Patterson played mainly at the position of left back for the club but has also been known to play in various other positions such as midfield, central DeFence and on the left wing for the Drumahoe club. His only cup win with IFC came in the 2002/03 when they won the North West Senior Cup by beating Omagh Town 5-0 at the Riverside Stadium.
