William Edgar Weldon
(William) Edgar Weldon (born 1944) is an American real estate developer and politician.
He was born in Wetumpka, Alabama, and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1965. He then served in the U. S. Army.
Family Life
He is married to Louise Cleve of Birmingham and has two children and seven grandchildren.
Real estate development
He began in real estate during college acquiring with his brother several rental houses.
With his brother Charles Weldon (also a graduate of the University of Alabama undergraduate and law schools), he developed 20,000 plus apartments across the Southern United States in the 1970s and 1980s. These were securitized and sold via Merrill Lynch partnership with Weldon's Southeast Property Management of Birmingham remaining as the manager of the apartments.
The family then bought a mortgage bank in Kansas and hotel in Mountain Brook, Alabama.

Throughout his entire business career, Weldon has been extensively involved in charitable giving, especially privately.
Other
Weldon is on the Board of the University of Alabama. He wrote a book about traveling around and watching sporting events.
Politics
Weldon is the long-time leader in the Alabama Republican Party including a stint as Chairman. He has also served as a member of the Republican National Committee.
