William "Bill" Douglass

William "Bill" Douglass is the CEO of Douglass Distributing in Sherman, TX.

Background

Bill Douglass was born and educated in Eastern Pennsylvania. He graduated in the top 10% from Collegeville-Trappe High School. He earned at Bachelor of Science Degree from Muhlenberg College and was a Dean’s List Scholar. He was a part of the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army. He was a 1st Lieutenant in Combat Intelligence. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and as a U.S. Army officer, he worked with Exxon Corp.

Business

He started out working for the Exxon Corporation in Dealers Sales and became a Sales Supervisor. After that, he became an Oil Heat manager and later a District manager. He then went on to be the Market Investment manager, a Marketing Strategy Advisor and a Government Relations manager. He resigned from Exxon Corporation (NYC). In 1981, he bought a petroleum distribution company in Sherman, Texas.

Awards

He received the position of Chairman of the General Committee of State Relations of the American Petroleum Institute and Chairman of the National Association of Convenience Stores. He also received the Exxon Excellence Award which is granted to the top 5% of Exxon Brand Distributors for the last 24 consecutive years. He won the U.S. Convenience Store of the Year twice. In the year 2000, he was awarded the CSP Magazine Outlook Award. He won Exxon’s Lubricant Excellence Award and “Experience Works” National Award in 2003 for companies under 1000. In 2008, he won the Outlook Conference Leadership Award and was inducted into the Convenience Store Hall of Fame.
