White back-lash
White back-lash is a historically noted behavior of American whites when they feel that they are losing their traditional power over their country, as with the recent election of black president Barack Obama. They form together into groups like the Ku Klux Klan and, in any way possible, restrict the power of minorities in the U.S. to get back their feeling of power. "Ghetto rioting, the rise of black militancy, and resentment over Great Society social legislation combined to produce a backlash among many whites. Commitment to bringing black Americans into full equality declined. In the wake of the riots, many whites fled the nation's cities. The Census Bureau estimated that 900,000 whites moved each year from central cities to the suburbs between 1965 and 1970." They will vote against civil rights laws, pass legislation to the contrary, and in general do everything they can to regain their power and really insult or hurt the power of the minorities in America. It has occurred after the Civil Rights Movement and Barack Obama's election. Most recently, a group of the Ku Klux Klan sent a message to "drag out" six young black men from their houses. Their orders were never carried out, but it could have happened, quite easily, in fact. These sorts of things are the definition of white back-lash.
