Whelen 2900

The Whelen 2900 is an electronic omni-directional civil defense siren made in the 1990s.

History

The 2900 series sirens were made after the Whelen 4004 and 4003 series sirens. The 2900 series have two other distinct variants: the 2800 and 2700. Both of which are older than the 2900.

Cells

The sirens range from one to nine cells containing one speaker driver per cell.

Single Cell - 2901, Two Cells - 2902, Three Cells - 2903, Four Cells - 2904, Five Cells - 2950 ... and so on until the 2910, a 10 cell unit.

Setup

The 2900 sirens are set up with one to nine siren speaker cells installed similar to the Federal Signal Modulator sirens. They have black open cells and usually are protected with screens to PReVENT birds or other debris from entering and potentially damaging the cell.
