West Pulaski Fire Department

The West Pulaski Fire Department is a volunteer fire department located west of Little Rock in Pulaski County, Arkansas, south of Bigelow, in Perry County and northeast of Bryant in Saline County. The department was originally founded in 1968. In the late 1990's a Fire Protection District (#23) was formed so that funding could convert from dues based to tax based.

Stations

Station 1 - Located on Whispering Pines off Col. Glenn Road outside of Little Rock.

Station 1 serves southern parts of the district in Western Pulaski and Eastern Saline Counties.

Station 2 - Located on Kanis Road in Ferndale

Station 2 serves from the city of Little Rock West into Saline County in the middle of the district.

Station 3 - Located at Highway 10 and Ferndale Cut-off.

Station 3 serves from the city of Little Rock West just AbOUT to Perry County,Lake Maumelle, and Pinnacle Valley.

Station 4 Located on Hwy 300 in Little Italy.

Station 4 serves the Wye Mountain and Little Italy communities both in Pulaski and Perry counties.

Response Capabilities

WPFD responds to all Fire Calls (Structure or Wildland), Rescue (Medical, Injury or other) and Motor Vehicle Accidents in our service area. We conduct fire inspections for business (includes schools, daycares, and camps) or residential locations, as safety and/or insurance requirements are needed. Each stations Rescue Unit carries a full array of Medical Gear (Wound Care, Stabilization, Oxygen, Defibrillator, Etc) and Extrication Equipment (Jaws of Life) All Firefighters are Certified Firefighters or are in training to become Certified Firefighters in the State of Arkansas. We all carry voice pagers or radios to be dispatched in a moment's notice from our homes or the stations whenever we are in the area. Many of us live all over the WPFD service area and can have a trained firefighter/medic at your address in a matter of minutes while the equipment begins the response. WPFD has approximately eight (8) Registered- Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's) and several trained First Responders to provide Basic Life Support Services in most any situation. WPFD also has a trained Rope Rescue group from our Station #1

Mutual Aid

West Pulaski also provides assistance to neighboring fire departments (and vice-versa) for the Little Rock FD, Crystal FD, Lake Maumelle FD, Lake Norrell FD, Salem FD and Paron FD upon request for additional manpower and equipment.
