West End Hockey League

The West End Hockey League (WEHL) offers non body contact (no checking) recreational ice hockey in District 7 (Ottawa West) of the Ottawa & District Minor Hockey Association. The WEHL offers a core program for players from age 5 (Initiation Program) to 17 (Midget) with no contact at all levels. Players must live within the BOUNDARIES of the district to participate in the program

Competitive contact hockey within District 7 is offered by the Ottawa West Golden Knights For information on competitive hockey with body contact (checking), inquiries should be directed to the Ottawa West Golden Knights hockey association. A cross-district city-wide competitive league is also available through the Ottawa Sting.

Players from outside of the district will be allowed to participate in the WEHL if there is sufficient space in the program once registration within the district is complete. The players from outside of District 7 must obtain a "Release" from their home association prior to playing in the WEHL.

District 7 contains that portion of the City of Ottawa bounded to the north, the Ottawa River and to the west by the border between the City of Ottawa and the City of Nepean. To the south the border is also the boundary between the City of Ottawa and the City of Nepean (basically a line along Baseline Road as far east as Fisher, then south on Fisher to its junction with Prince of Wales Drive and east from there to the Rideau River). The east boundary follows north along the Rideau River from the junction of River and City of Ottawa boundary, to its junction with the Rideau Canal; north along the Rideau Canal to Dow's Lake; north along Preston Street to Gladstone Avenue; east along Gladstone to Bronson Avenue; north along Bronson to a direct line to the Ottawa River.

The WEHL offers a core program for players from age 5 (Initiation Program) to 17 (Midget). We also offer a "Junior Recreation" and "Senior Recreation" league for those players old than 17.
