Wastement

Wastement is a MusicAL and spiritual collective based in Nekala, Tampere, Finland. The heart of the collective is a place called Wastement, a rehearsal space and a studio in which most of the collectives bands compose and record their albums. Members of the collective are ACTIVE in various musical projects and bands, some of the best known include Dark Buddha Rising, Oranssi Pazuzu.

In 2016 Wastement conducted a Finnish Takeover at the Roadburn Festival with five of the collective's bands playing at the festival.This was aptly commented by Finnish music export association Music Finland:

The festival has presented several local musical movements before, but five different bands from a basement located in a 3000 inhabitant neighborhood Nekala (in Tampere, Finland) must be a record of some kind.

Another takeover took place in 2017 when Atomikylä, Mr. Peter Hayden and Oranssi Pazuzu performed at Roskilde Festival. Festival's booker Stefan Gejsing commented on the Festivals guide:

The metal scene in Finland is really buoyant at the moment. Some of the most interesting bands right now have grown out of the same rehearsal space, which they have dubbed Wastement. They are a collective, sharing members across bands. All bands have in common that they play metal, but they reference many other genres like space rock, ambient, prog, psych, doom and black. Collectively, they will make your head spin!
