Warren Pereira

Warren Pereira (born 18 January 1976, Mumbai, India) is an Indian-born, Los Angeles–based film director, producer, and entrepreneur. He is best known for directing the documentary Tiger 24: The Making of a Man-Eater (2022), which was released theatrically in India and the United States and later licensed by Netflix (USA/Canada) and Prime Video (India). The film won the Panda Award at the 2022 Wildscreen Festival and Best Feature Documentary at the Burbank International Film Festival.

Early life and education

Pereira was born in Mumbai, India, in 1976. He studied at Bombay Scottish School before moving to Canada, where he graduated from Appleby College in Ontario. During his youth, he was a four-time national swimming champion of India. Pereira earned a B.A. in Biology from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, and later studied film and digital media at the Art Institute of Portland.

Career

Short films and commercial work

Pereira's early short films include Lacking Lewis (2007), Who’s Good Looking? (2007), Superhero Talent (2008), Lovely Coffee (2008), Salt and Silicone (2010), Moving Higher (2014), and The Fence (2016). His work in advertising includes winning a Cannes Gold Lion in 2012 for the Hinglish Project with the DDB agency.

Feature films

In 2022, Pereira directed Tiger 24: The Making of a Man-Eater, a documentary about T-24, a Bengal tiger controversially removed from Ranthambore National Park. The film was distributed in North America by Elevation Pictures and in India by AA Films. It screened at several international festivals and received awards including the Panda Award at Wildscreen (2022) and Best Feature Documentary at the Burbank International Film Festival (2022).

As a producer, Pereira worked on 1-800-Hot-Nite (2022), which was nominated for the Grand Special Prize at the Deauville Film Festival, and on Downwind (2023), a documentary about U.S. nuclear testing narrated by Martin Sheen and featuring Michael Douglas, which premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival and won Best Environmental Documentary at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival.

Business roles

In 2023 Pereira became CEO of Joseph Leslie & Company LLP, a Mumbai-based safety equipment firm founded by his grandfather. In 2025 he co-founded Sepera Products Private Limited, a company specializing in eco-friendly safety and film-lighting products.
