Wahid Qasemi

Wahid Qasemi () is an Tajik singer of Afghanistan. His popularity soared in the late 1980s when he first emerged into the Afghanistani music scene. He is also regarded for his affable personality that his fans claim have absorbed his critics. Qasemi is the grandson of a famous Afghanistani singer, who served as the official artist to the royal court. Qasemi is a traditional MusicAL artist, specializing in the Kharabati style of Afghanistani classical music.

After the fall of Soviet backed government, he emigrated to Germany from where he moved to the United States. He now lives in Canada, continuing his career from that there. Mr. Qasemi has returned to Afghanistan several times, working on preserving traditional Afghan musical styles. He collaborated with Troubadour Productions to produce Qu Qu Qu, Barge Chinar: Children's Songs from Afghanistan, a children's songbook capturing traditional children's songs. The book has lyrics, musical notes, and an accompanying CD.
