VyVolení (TV series)

Vyvolení (The Chosen Ones - the singular of word is "Vyvolený") - was a Slovak reality show based on Big Brother principle.

It began on 5th October 2005 on Slovak TV JOJ. The show was based on rules of the Hungarian reality show Való Világ ("Real World")

The show consists of five parts:

  • 14x Voľba (The Choice) - 42 people, who were chosen on castings, were divided into three-member groups. At the first Voľba the first three competitors were presented. They had to convince viewers to send them text messages, the person with the most votes would be sent to the house. The next evening, the next group competed and so on until there were 14 contestants in the house.
  • 12x Výber (The Selection) - when there were 14 people in the mansion, they received various tasks. The Vyvolení had a few weeks to get to know each other. After that, the vyber started . Výber was on Monday. The Vyvolení had a table with their names, and everyone had to select one with a "thumb-nail" magnet, who was undesirable. Who got the most voices wore a green scarf and moved forward to the Duel (read below). This Vyvolený was called "Vybraný Vyvolený (Selected chosen one)". Vyvolení couldn't select themselves or the competitor, who was wearing a violet scarf (read below).
  • 12x Výzva (The Challenge) - The Vybraný Vyvolený had to challenge an opponent to the Duel. He could choose everyone except the vyvolený with the violet scarf. The Challenged Vyvolený was called "Vyzvaný Vyvolený" and got a green scarf. In the moment, when the name of the challenged vyvolený was known, viewers could start sending SMS text messages to their favorite. Výzva was on Wednesday.
  • 12x Duel was held on Saturday evening. Two Vyvolení with green scarfs arrive to the studio to see the results. Who got the most votes from viewers returned to the villa and for a week got a violet scarf (granting them imunnity - he/she couldn't be chosen). The loser went right from the studio home. When only 5 competitors remained, the violet scarf was cancelled.

  • Veľké finále (The Great Final) - the three remaining arrive to the studio. They see the results of the last voting. The one, that had less votes loses. The other two returned to the vila. After that they saw the results right in the house. The winner of the whole reality show stays in the vila, and the loser goes back to the studio. The winner "Vyvolený" wins prizes valued at 11 000 000 Slovak Crowns ( = about 250 000€ ).

Vyvolení in the Czech Republic

In the Czech Republic the same show was held, but it started a few weeks before the Slovak version. On the 18. of November 2005, the Czech competitors were evicted. The Czech TV Prima and the Slovak TV JOJ found a final solution: The five Czech Vyvolení were moved to the Slovak house among the 8 remaining Slovak Vyvolení. The reality shows continued seperatly, but in the same house. This event was unique to the show. Many of the Slovak and Czech viewers were saying that Czechoslovakia was re-united.
