History

Volt Athletics was founded in 2011 by Dan Giuliani and Trevor Watkins. The company launched its digital strength and conditioning platform in 2013, initially focusing on team-based training for schools and athletic organizations.

In 2016, Volt expanded beyond team customers with the release of a mobile training application designed for individual athletes.

In April 2024, Volt Athletics acquired ZAMA Health, a mental health services company focused on athletes, with the aim of integrating mental wellness resources into its training platform.

Volt’s primary product is a strength and conditioning training application that generates workout programming.

The company offers both an athlete-facing training app and a platform designed for coaches and organizations to manage training programs across teams and groups.

Volt Athletics operates as a distributed company and adopted a compressed four-day workweek in 2020. Company leadership has stated that the policy was implemented to support employee well-being and productivity.

Partnerships and programs

In 2015, the company became a strength and conditioning partner of USA Football and U.S. national football teams, supporting training initiatives at the national level.

In 2016, Volt partnered with the Seattle Seahawks to provide strength training resources to Washington state high school football programs. The initiative included access to Volt’s digital training platform and was intended to support youth athletic development.

Volt has also partnered with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), which published a professional review of the company’s training platform. Additional partnerships have included the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

In 2018, Volt announced a partnership with Gatorade that integrated nutrition guidance into its training application and led to the product being branded as Volt Fueled by Gatorade.
