2002: The birth of a career and tour with Nada Surf.

  • Voicst kicks their career off with a much anticipated show at the Winston in Amsterdam. Their shows earn them support slots with Millionaire, Enon and Mclusky throughout the year.

2003: Introduction to Festivals, the Essent award, and Bettie Serveert.

  • Voicst becomes the recipient of the ESSENT award. An invitation to the Noordeslag Festival opens the door to play Metropolis and Lowlands. The band also travels to NYC to perform at the CMJ Music Marathon.
  • They record a 6 track EP ‘Eat The Evidence’.
  • Voicst supports Bettie Serveert throughout Holland. Several ‘one off’ supports for bands like Tenacious D, The Raveonettes and Nada Surf

2004: Voicst + Smashing Pumpkins + Girls Against Boys = ‘11-11’

  • Together with acts like Eleven, Gem and zZz, Voicst joins the Unsigned Tour. They also are invited back to Noordeslag and CMJ.
  • This year marks the five week journey back to NYC to record with Eli Janney (Girls Against Boys) in James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins studio. The album is aptly titled 11-11.
  • 11-11 is released in the fall of 2004 in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain.

2005: Third time is the charm!

  • For the third consecutive year Voicst plays Noordeslag and CMJ. Other Festivals: Popkomm, SXSW, Iceland Airwaves, Virus, Beeckestijnpop, Conincx Pop, Waterpop, Lowlands, and almost every other Dutch festival known to mankind.
  • Tour Europe and the UK supporting: The Bravery, The Posies, The Presidents of the USA, Millionaire, Juliette & The Licks.
  • In June Voicst holds a residency at the Luminaire in London
  • Album wins 3voor12 award for Best Dutch Album.
  • Album wins Live XS Award for best album.
  • Voicst enters the charts for the first time with the single ‘Dazzled Kids’.
  • 11-11 is released in the USA in a remixed version by Victor van Vught who produced PJ Harvey, Beth Orton, Athlete, and Nick Cave. Re-mastered by Fred Kevorkian of Iggy Pop, White Stripes, and Ryan Adams.
  • Heineken uses Voicst for a worldwide TV commercial. Joppe wins a Devil Award for ‘Best Drummer’ from the Dutch Rock & Pop Institute.

2006: TV, Games, Danko Jones and the Vans Warped Tour.

  • The band tours Holland with zZz, and supports Danko Jones in Europe.
  • The track ‘Whatever You Want From Life’ is used in 2006 FIFA World Cup Football game, and on Google Earth.
  • The popular US TV-series One Tree Hill uses Detail 2003. Voicst makes appearance at several Dutch TV shows like ‘De Wereld Draait door’ and ‘Barend en van Dorp’.
  • 11-11 is released in Australia
  • Festivals: Vans Warped Tour (US), Oxygen (Ireland), Great Escape (Brighton) and various Dutch festivals.

2007: A Tale of Two Devils is born.

  • Voicst enters the studio with producer Peter Katis (Interpol, The National) and Rutger Hoedemaeker of About.
  • They come away with a remarkable album called ‘A Tale of Two Devils’. The album features Kypski, Perquisite, Beyonce’s trumpet player, Gogol Bordello’s sax player, and Simon and Garfunkel’s piano player.
  • Voicst tours Japan for their release of 11-11 and comes back to Holland to perform at Uitmarkt and the Friends forWarchild in Ahoy concert.
