Voice European Project

Currently, the participation of EU citizenship in legislative processes has diminished as a consequence of language barriers, lack of knowledge AbOUT decision-making and slender information about the impact of European legislation on the economic, social and cultural life.

In view of the situation, VoicE European Project−“Giving European people a voice in EU Legislation” − is aimed at giving an answer to these needs. In this way, the project places itself as a platform to promote mutual understanding of European citizens and EU politicians. VoicE European Project is included in e-Participation European Programme and is cofunded by this programme.

VoicE Project

VoicE promote the dialogue between citizens from European Regions and policy-makers from the European Parliament. This platform will work by using Information and Communication Technologies and it will be focused on the field of consumer protection within the European Union. These legislative proposals will be directed to five different areas: telecommunications, energy, toys security, nutrition (new food and children’s nutrition) and the creation of a new Consumer Observatory.

In this sense, VoicE Project encourages European citizenship to discuss legislative proposals. Consequently, EU citizens would have at that very moment the opportunity to share their opinions with political decision-makers on issues in the legislative pipeline, just before relevant decisions are taken. VoicE Project takes priority over regional approaches of the legislative proposals in order to create communication channels, so citizens could directly contact their high representatives in Brussels.

Regional platforms

Using state-of-art communication tools like blogs and online forums, the platform facilitates a constructive dialogue between citizens and their elected representatives at EU level. Moreover, for the first time, there will be a regional subdivision: one platform is implemented in Baden-Württemberg (Germany) and another platform in Valencian Community (Spain).
