Vocationing
Vocationing is a term coined by Brian Kurth, founder of the company VocationVacations. It allows a person to experience one's dream job through a process of strategic outreach, professional mentoring, experimentation, and hands-on experience. This provides 'vocationers' with insights to determine the how, when, or if they are ready to turn their passions into careers. The process of allowing people to experiment with a dream job on a temporary basis can help determine whether that dream job is something that is viable - rather than being something that is a passing fancy or even a hobby - as a career.
Vocationing can be seen as a form of mentoring or an apprenticeship. However, vocationing is a new twist in that current society does often not provide a safe environment for vocational experimentation.
