Vênus (band)
Vênus were a brazilian Heavy Metal group from Teresina, active during the 1980s.
History
This Band was from Teresina in the very poor province of Piaui in the Northeast of Brazil. They founded VENUS already in 1982, and played first only cover songs. Soon they started with own material and played a lot live. In 1984 they could play at the "Festival Setembro Rock" in front of 2000 people! In 1984 the guitar player Ico Almendra joined. In 1985 the first 6 track demo is recorded. But they looked for a more aggressive singer (till then guitar player Thyrso was singing), and they found Kleber (ex WAGARK). They started with recording of the first album in 1986, and the new singer left them, so Thyrso had to do it again. Later Joao Filho joined to take the job on the mikrophone. With him they travelled for promotion to Sao Paulo and played 2 shows, which were even filmed officially! In 1986 they played again at the big local "Festival Setembro Rock", with A CHAVE DO SOL, MEGAHERTZ and others. I have no idea when the band split! Guitarist Ico Almendra founded later AVALON They managed to release one of the most obscure and rare records in Brazil! The cover is really primitive made and the record has a bad sound, but the music is good rough 80s Metal. It seems like a demo, that is pressed into vinyl.
