Viktor Šerbu

Viktor Šerbu (Dubrovnik, September 15, 1938.),a Croatian academic painter.

Since early years his talent has been noticed. During his high school days he started to contemplate about paitning as a future profession. He is into nature and landscape. Young Šerbu spends his summer vacations on island of Korčula in the village Smokvica, where his mother was born. As a sixteen year-old, he discovered painting, and every return to Dubrovnik was filled with lots of sketches and drawings. When he turned eighteen, he got acquainted with Kosta Strajnić, unavoidable Spiritus Movens of Dubrovnik contemporary painting from middle twentieth century.

1958. he enrolled to Academy of fine arts in Zagreb, under professors V. Filakovac, K. Hegedušić, A. Mihičić, M. Peić, V. Parać, O. Postužnik, M. Detoni, and Oton Postružnik. After graduation in 1964. he briefly returned to Dubrovnik, but due to a desire to get some insight in world art, he departed to London and Paris. After that, in 1969. he came back to Dubrovnik, where he works as art teacher, and professional painter. He still lives and works in Dubrovnik.
