Vijayanand Road lines, popularly known as VRL is private company Providing transport services in Karnataka State, India.

VRL has luxury buses plying from Bengaluru (Bangalore) to all major district head quarters and taluk head quarters in Karnataka. Most of its buses provide overnight travel options.

Its operations started with luxury bus services from Bangalore to twin cities of Hubli-Dharward. From this small beginnings, it expanded its network to all major cities of North karnataka up to Bombay. It competes with other private transport providers like Bluelines, Durgamba transport, Sharma transport, National transport, Ghorpade and Kamat travels to name a few.

Apart from the private luxury bus transport providers, it also competes with State owned Karnataka state road transport corporation (KSRTC). In fact, KSRTC not withstanding the competition with private players had to do aggressive home work and it responded by introducing Iravatha, Rajahamsa and SUPER delux buses. These buses offered wide seats, Air conditioned coaches and comfort to passengers.

Over-night bus transport providers had to meet another challenge, this time from Indian Railways. Rani Chennamma express became extremely popular over night train from Bangalore to twin cities of Hubli-Dharwad, Belguam and Miraj. Introduction of Twin city express, Jana-shatabhi express during day time proved to be a hit among commuters.

VRL bus services maintains its popularity by offering good customer services. All its buses which need six or more hours of driving during night have two drivers. This has contributed significantly towards safety and reduction in Driver fatigue. Tickets can be booked easily at many of its agent outlets spread across every corner of Bengaluru. Agents typically have a pre-alloted quota of seats. If they have booked these seats and need more, they can contact their co-agents and get them booked. This way, most of the times, customer is really taken care. Some regular travelers just call the familiar agents and get their ticket booked. They will pick these tickets just before departure. Most of the private transport providers including VRL ply feeder buses across Bengaluru to pick up passengers from their residential estates. This way, the hassle of taking auto-rickshaw to main bus station (majestic) is avoided.

State owned KSRTC, has a more advanced on-line booking system. It also has agents spread across Bengalure city to book tickets. Recently, this travellers can do a on-line e-ticket booking using their credit cards. This another point which private transport providers need to think for the future.

VRL also has a cargo operations. It uses heavy trucks and mini trucks to carry out these operations. VRL Cargo is known for its competitive rates and reliability among the users. It competes directly with biggies like Patel roadways, TVS Sundaram transport et.al to name a few.
