Veteran Pakistani Roman Catholic Priests

Pakistani Roman Catholic Priests who have completed 50 years or more of service in the priesthood.

  • Father D’Arcy D'Souza †, the longest serving Pakistani Roman Catholic priest gave sixty six years of his life in the service of the Archdiocese of Karachi.
  • Father Stephen Raymond † became the first Pakistani principal of St Patrick's High School, Karachi in 1950. He served the institution for 25 years.
  • Father Robert D’Silva was ordained a priest in 1942. The Father Robert D’Silva Golden Jubilee Invitation Inter-school cricket tournament was named in his honour in 2002.
  • Father Armando Trindade † was ordained a priest on 6 May 1950. On 5 July 1973 Pope Paul VI appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lahore and on 23 April 1994 was appointed Archbishop of Lahore.
  • Father Simeon Anthony Pereira † was ordained a priest on 24 August 1951. On 3 July 1971 Pope Paul VI appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of Rawalpindi. He became Archbishop of Karachi on 11 Feb 1994 and retired from that office on 20 November 2002.
  • Father Francis de Souza is only the third priest of the Archdiocese of Karachi to complete 60 years of service.
  • Fr. Canisius Mascarenhas, Parish Priest of Christ the King Parish, celebrated the 60th anniversary of his ordination on May 06, 2010.
  • Fr. Melito Dias was a hockey wizard, Scout Leader and priest for more than 50 years.
  • Father James “Jimmy” deSouza was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Karachi in 1952.
  • Father Bonaventure Patrick Paul OFM † was ordained a priest in Karachi on 1 March 1954. On 14 June 1971 he was consecrated Bishop of the Diocese of Hyderabad.
  • Fr. Ignatius Pinto † was vice-principal of St Patrick's High School, Karachi for many years.
  • Fr. Louis Mascarenhas OFM was ordained to the Order of Priests on January 5, 1958. After a lifetime of service in Pakistan, he has served in Papua New Guinea, the Philippines and Korea.
  • Father Anthony Mascarenhas, physics teacher in St Patrick's High School, Karachi for many years.
  • Father Augustine Fernandes OFM taught psychology at Saint Patrick's College, Karachi from 1962-64. He has also been a Professor at the Christ the King Seminary (Pakistan).
  • Father J. B. Todd OFM, teacher in St Patrick's High School, Karachi and St Bonaventure's High School, Hyderabad for many years.
  • Father Gasper Mendes OFM served the Church for 60 years.
  • Father Lawrence Saldanha was ordained a priest in Lahore on 16 Jan 1960. On 24 Apr 2001 he was appointed Archbishop of Lahore by Pope John Paul II. On 16 January 2010, Archbishop Saldanha celebrated his Golden Jubilee as a priest, serving his church for 50 years.
  • Father Anthony Theodore Lobo was ordained a priest in Karachi on January 8, 1961. On 28 May 1993 he became Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Islamabad-Rawalpindi.
  • FatherJoe D’Mello was ordained a priest in Karachi on January 8, 1961. He was rector of the St. Pius X Minor Seminary from 1994 – 2001.
