utterz is an award winning free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send "updates" (or "utterz"; audio, video, picture and text mashups) to their blogs, social network pages and to utterz website, from a cell phone via SMS - short message service, MMS, by email or cn be created online at utterz.com. Utterz was founded in March 2007 by Boston company RPM Communications.

Audio or voice utterz can be recorded from any phone by calling 712-432-6666 and video, picture and text messages can be sent via SMS/MMS to go@utterz.com. Anything sent within 10 minutes will be mashed together and directed by the creator to be displayed on the user's profile page, any other blogs or social networks for which they have set up "utterz connections". Connections can be set up for blogs such as Blogger, WordPress,TypePad, LiveJournal and blogs using MovableType. Widgets can be set up on all major social networks, and there is an Utters Facebook application. When a new utter is created, notifications will be send to other users who have signed up to receive them. The sender can restrict delivery to those in his or her circle of friends (delivery to everyone is the default). Users can receive updates via the utterz website, instant messaging, SMS, RSS, email or through an application. For SMS, currently three gateway numbers are available: short codes for the USA and Canada and a UK number for international use. Several third parties offer posting and receiving updates via email.
