About Us
We first became involved in hospital retailing in 1991. With new openings every year since, we now have national coverage with over 65 hospital units currently trading, all in premises of between 150 and 2000 square feet. This makes us the leading news / convenience retailer within hospitals.
We can provide a comprehensive professional service and have a flexible and creative approach. Our product range and trading hours can be tailored to meet the needs of an individual hospital whilst our staff are specially selected and trained to work in a hospital environment and our experience and expertise enables us to generate a substantial income for the hospital.
We have developed an excellent working relationship with hospital management throughout the UK and one reason for this is our ability to listen and react quickly to feedback from the hospital. We also consult with hospital managers on a regular basis to ensure that our commitment to quality and service is maintained.
Our range is eminently suited to a hospital environment, catering for staff, patients and visitors. We are aware of the need for cleanliness, quality of presentation and the special needs involved when selecting management and staff for hospital retailing.
Our involvement can include planning and design of the retail space at a very early stage of the project to the fitting out of a designated area to create an attractive and welcoming retail unit. The new PFI hospitals have provided us with the opportunity to work with some of the largest developers in the UK such as Balfour Beatty, Bouygues UK, Mowlem Health Solutions, as well as many others

United News is pleased to announce the development of two new concepts to complement our News/Convenience stores. We are able to offer a News/Convenience/Coffee store combined as well as our new 'stand alone' Caffè Nuovo.
Combined Convenience /Coffee Shop We appreciate that there can often be space constraints within Hospitals whilst the requirement remains for an extensive service. We have therefore developed a combined convenience and coffee retail unit which can sell the most popular news/convenience products together with hot drinks, sandwiches and snacks combined with a seating area. This type of unit has also proved successful where a need exists for a satellite unit in addition to the main convenience store. Caffè Nuovo Caffè Nuovo is our recently launched premium coffee shop brand that offers freshly ground coffee and a wide range of hot beverages together with an exciting range of quality sandwiches, salads and hot and cold snacks. This concept has been developed with fast efficient customer service firmly in mind and all products can be consumed on the premises or taken away. Caffè Nuovo is distinctively branded and is operated and managed as a stand-alone unit. With a bright modern design, Caffè Nuovo is the ideal coffee shop solution for all members of the hospital community.
