Plot Summary

Melody Logan's story continues as L.A. in an attempt to find her mother and uncover family secrets. Melody succeeds in finding her mother Haille, who is persuaded to let Melody stay with her. When Haille's agent attempts to [...] Melody, she flees back to Cape Cod (the decision made easier by the knowledge that her tyrannical Uncle Jacob has died).

When Melody arrives back in Provincetown, she is made to live with Grandmother Olivia, who attempts to limit the contact between Melody and her distant cousin Cary. With the help of her friend Teresa, the two girls are able to plan an evening alone for Melody and Cary, which ends in the two of them consummating their relationship.

Grandmother Olivia has a stroke, and reveals a startling secret: Cary's twin sister Laura is in an institution. Melody and Cary go to investigate, but find that Laura has unfortunately passed away. The two return to Cape Cod; Grandmother Olivia slips into a coma and then dies, allowing the two to be together without any more issues.
