UCD Sentinals
UCD Football formerly known as UCD Sentinels is the American football team of UCD. The team competes in the senior IAFL league.
Formation
The University College Dublin American football team was founded in Spring 2007 by three UCD students came together to "create a club that had been missing in UCD sports for decades."
History The club competed its first season exclusively in the flag league of the IAFL. A successful run through the flag league set the club up perfectly for its assault on the kitted development league in the IAFL, the DV8's.
The 2009 season was a successful one for the Sentinels, who achieved a 6-2 record including victories over the Dragons, the Soldiers, the Rams, the Cowboys and Dublin University AFC.
The club has gone from strength to strength in 2010 with a large squad for the coming season being tutored by the watchful eyes of coach John Collins and player/coaches Pete Wright and Daragh Mooney.
