Tyrone Smith (presenter)

Tyrone Smith (born circa 1975) is a sports news reporter and presenter for STV News in Northern Scotland.

Born in the Bridge of Don area of Aberdeen as the son of two teachers, he attended Scotstown Primary School, Bridge of Don Academy and Aberdeen University, reading politics and international relations. Later, he took a postgraduate diploma in journalism at Strathclyde University.

After graduating, Smith worked at Northsound Radio as work experience and holiday relief. He also freelanced for the now-defunct radio station 96.3 Q FM in Renfrewshire and Scot FM in Edinburgh. Smith joined Grampian Television (now STV North) in 1998 as a production journalist, then volunteered to cover sport for North Tonight (now STV News at Six).

Smith has also presented occasional regional programmes, including Trump Links, which documented plans by American businessman Donald Trump to build a golf course in Aberdeenshire.
